Haile Gebrselassie (Ethiopia) is the current world record holder. He ran and finished the 2008 Berlin Marathon, Germany at 2:03:59 hours.

Kariuki won 2010 Tiberias Marathon

2010 Tiberias Marathon -   Simon Kariuki Njoroge (Kenya) won  the  race with 2:11:10 hours.   Emily Chepkemoi Samoei (Kenya) was the first woman to finish at 2:36:41 hours. The weather was unusually warm for the month of January.
